The Marine Corps Fitness Test

I took the Marine Corps Fitness Test today. I didn't do as well as I was hoping (I have apparently lost all of my upper body strength), but I still managed to rank in the 1st class. Not too shabby (considering I'm an old fart in my age group), but there's still room for improvement. I ended up doing 12 pullups (60 points), way more than 100 crunches (100 points), and finished the 3-mile run in 21:15 (80 points) for a total score of 240.

Class Age 17-26 Age 27-39 Age 40-45 Age 46+
1st 225 200 175 150
2nd 175 150 125 100
3rd 135 110 88 65

Training No More

The past two days have been rest days for me as I've been getting ready to ship my bike up to San Francisco for the ALC ride. Granted, I didn't hit my goal for this week or the week before, but I've ridden farther than I ever would've imagined I could in 25 days.

It's All About the First Century

I'm starting my second day of rest this week, which means I'm probably not going to reach 350 miles by Friday. But to be honest, it's not a huge deal to me because yesterday, I finished my first century (a 100 mile ride). I rode from Griffith Park to Santa Monica, then up the PCH past Malibu and back the same route. My legs are pretty sore and I'm fairly tired, but I feel great.

294

I am so exhausted right now, so I'll keep this short and boring...

Mileage this week:

For a total of 294miles which is almost 300, but not quite. Still, that's a lot of miles to cycle in one week.

Needs More Mandex

I've been riding around in Mandex all week, but I've also tried out the skinny jeans look. I hate to admit it, but I really am becoming a hipster. But not one of those douchey hipsters - a cool hipster (if there is such a thing.) I've also watched a lot of movies while riding on my trainer: Donnie Darko, The Color of Money, and Batman Begins - nice.

Anyways, here's the mileage I've worked up to this week:

I wanna stay in bed all day, but it's Mandex May!

Last Sunday, I had one of the best and most relaxing days I've had in a long time. I slept in (relatively) late, got breakfast in WeHo, went to the Annenberg Space for Photography, bought some books, and saw Tyson. Throw in a couple of cocktails, and you have an incredible day.

Unfortunately, there is no time for days like that during Mandex May.
