I went to the Huntington on Sunday (and took a lot of pictures.) I made the unfortunate mistake of wearing jeans there, even after I checked the weather and saw that it was going to be in the nineties. After sweating through desert gardens, rose gardens, and Japanese and Chinese gardens, we made our way over to The Steele Gallery. There was an incredible painting by William Harnett there, the first of four titled After the Hunt. It was mind blowing - I honestly thought it was some type of mixed-media piece when I first saw it. It's incredibly realistic.
After that, we went to This Side of Paradise in the Boone Gallery which was a really cool gallery of LA-themed photography. There were a few really good & raw pictures that I liked. If I can find them online somewhere, I'll throw a link up. It was definitely my favorite part of the day.
Unfortunately, I didn't make it to MOCA on Saturday...I think I got poisoned by the delicious Thai food I had on Friday night. I'm really bummed that I never made it to any Cinemoca screenings. I definitely do need to go down there sometime soon though. Any takers?
