What is The Monthly Challenge?
The Monthly Challenge is was a tool to help people attempt to try new things. It has been inactive for quite some time, but it remains open and usable at the moment.
When it was still alive & kicking, here's how it worked...
Each month, a goal is set - whether it be a daily goal (ie., complete a Sudoku puzzle every day) or a weekly goal (ie., read a book every week) a monthly goal (ie., cycle 1000 miles in a month) or something completely different. The beauty is that you make the rules about your challenge. Or, if you see someone else's challenge and would like to participate, that's another option.
What if I fail a challenge?
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Hopefully you will learn from your failures and that will help you refine challenges down the road. However, don't expect to succeed at everything - if you're completing each month's challenge easily, then it's not really a challenge, now is it?
If you don't complete a challenge, you become a better person. You won't lose your account on the site or anything, but people who read your comment and follow you may be disappointed and ridicule you :).
How do I come up with challenges?
If you're having trouble coming up with an idea for a challenge, check out our list of challenge ideas. Also, keep in mind that it is best to create S.M.A.R.T. goals for yourself.
Do my challenges need to have cute, alliterated names?
No. But it's more fun to say if there's alliteration
.
Where did The Monthly Challenge come from?
It started out as a Jesse's personal blog which documented everything from attempting to get into shape, to drinking lots of alcohol, to talking to strangers every day. After realizing that this idea could be useful and could benefit a lot of people, it was transformed into a social tool, to encourage others to try new things and push themselves on a day-to-day/week-to-week/month-to-month basis.
